T.M. Causey is no stranger to fiction. Writing as Toni McGee Causey, she is author of the critically acclaimed and best selling novel series featuring the zany Tammy Faye. Taking a wide turn from the quirky, non-stop action of her three Tammy Faye books, Causey’s latest novel, The Saints of the Lost and Found, goes into a dark place where some families have special paranormal gifts and though they share the strangeness of their abilities, they may or may not be trusted.
In The Saints of the Lost and Found, Avery Broussard fled the family homestead in Louisiana vowing never to return. For the last number of years she’s been in Chicago working as an asset of the FBI by using her gift of “finding lost things/people” to help find the child victim of a serial killer. When her father orders her home, saying “Your brother will die, girl, if you don’t get back home now,” Avery returns to a town that never forgets the past. Former haunts haunt her, old lovers surface with tangled ties, and she can’t shake the sensation that her work finding the missing Chicago girl has something to do with her own childhood trauma. In The Saints of the Lost and Found, Causey crafts a taut-emotional tale with gothic overtones, gritty characters and a setting as eerie as the story itself.
While pursuing an MFA in Screenwriting, Toni had scripts optioned by prominent studios and recently produced an indie film, LA-308, which now has offers of distribution pending. Toni began her career by writing non-fiction for local newspapers, edited Baton Rouge Magazine, and sold articles to places like Redbook and Mademoiselle. In her copious spare time, she practiced her Ninja skills, though she can’t prove it because no one ever saw her.
Causey and her husband, Carl, thrive in New Orleans’s French Quarter, where they’re not the craziest ones on the block. Sometimes they’re not even second craziest. She and Carl have owned and operated a civil construction company for more than thirty years, with projects all over Louisiana, Mississippi, and south-eastern Texas. They are also working on a home/remodeling project in the Quarter. Her grown sons survived her, with one becoming a SWAT police officer and one becoming a Firefighter. Meanwhile, she and Carl are absolutely frothing-at-the-mouth proud of the two grandkids and three step-grands.
