We’re catching up with writing dynamo Lauren Baratz-Logsted this week. Lauren recently saw the second book in her early reader series, Sherlock Bones, published, and in June will launch a middle grade novel called I Love You, Michael Collins. These titles push Lauren past the 30-book mark since her first novel, The Thin Pink Line, was published in 2003. Lauren has written for nearly all age ranges in her fiction, drawing upon her own imagination as well as inspiration from such classics as Little Women, Nancy Drew, and of course, Sherlock Holmes. In September 2017 she’ll publish another adult novel, The Other Brother, and in the spring of 2018 she’ll launch an additional YA novel called Zombie Abbey.

We’ll chat with Lauren about how she comes up with ideas for her novels, what it’s like to write across such a broad age range, and changes in the publishing climate since her first novel was published.
